The very worst of the Alaska Highway due to permafrost is between Tok and Haines Junction, but also some of the most amazing beauty. It helped that it was not raining.
In one of the pictures at the South end of Kluane Lake, I'm standing in the middle of the '70s road. The old original road can be seen climbing from left to right on the side of the hill and the new road is to the right of me. They've been working on this road since the day it was finished in '42.
