bare foot feelings

1972
I was bouncing around in the back of the school bus with all the other country kids, barreling down the gravel roads from California R-1 Schools.  We lived at the outer reaches of the district with a mailing  address of Centertown, Missouri.  MAP  The last day of fourth grade had finally arrived and none too soon.  The misery of reading, writing, and arithmetic along with the required shirt and shoes were history.  Summer had arrived and I had the urge to leave all the structure of civilization behind and have some adventure.

1980
Paul Bushman and I had just graduated high school.  Tim Johnson and Tom Johnson were going to be seniors.  The night of graduation, we loaded into my grandpa's borrowed pickup truck with camper shell and headed to Bemidji, Minnesota for a week in a cabin. The misery of exams, reports and my college prep teacher were all history.  A new phase of life had arrived and I had the urge to leave all the structure of civilization behind and have some adventure.

2012
After all the years, all the work, all the ups and downs, ins and outs, successes and failures.....I have the urge to leave all the structure of civilization behind and have some adventure.  What a better place than Alaska?
