On February 20, 1962, NASA launched one of the most important flights in American history. The mission? Send a man to orbit Earth, observe his reactions and return him home safely. The pilot of this historic flight, John Glenn, became a national hero and a symbol of American ambition. (nasa.gov) He was was still in orbit when I was born on February 21.....50 years ago!
And now, at T-22 days, I'm preparing for one of the most important trips in MY history. An "ambitious" undertaking as described by one of my friends. Just the beginning implied by another.
My trip to Alaska is part of my 50 years celebration. A time to soak in God's beauty. A time to reflect and look ahead. A time to "observe (my) reactions and return home safely".
I don't know what I'll find out there....and that is very much the allure for me.
