"Hey, there's a moose!"

During the month of January, as I started my search for an RV, I thought a lot about doing Alaska alone.  Kinda like Christopher McCandless* did   ……uhh, well,  ok, maybe nothing like that. …..but get out there and have an adventure on my own.

As I pondered it more I thought…… if I see a moose, it would be nice to have someone to elbow and say, "hey, there's a moose".   I also thought it would be fun to have someone to plan and develop the trip with.  And, I smiled as I realized, wouldn’t it be nice to have someone to do half the driving on a 9000 mile trip.

My friend Michele had indicated that she’d like to go but would pass on any wild berries. She is a school counselor and off for the summer.  We went to Maine together last year and had a fantastic trip.  Our friendship is unique and we tolerate each other pretty well.  I asked her in February and she said she was in.

It has been fun to talk about places we’d like to go and things we’d like to do.   She’s come up with interesting things I wouldn’t have thought of like sailing and a moose poop festival.  Alaska here we come.
