Just three years before I was born, Alaska became the 49th state in our union on January 3, 1959.  It was purchased from Russia almost 90 years earlier for only $7.2 million.......what a deal!  wiki link


I've been fortunate to have visited all the lower 48 states.  It took intention and I did it.  I finally got Maine last summer and was blown away at the beauty.  It looks just like the postcards. 

It's not so much where, but just to go.
